5 Ways to Celebrate National Pretzel Month Based on Your Mood

Ah, the beauty of October. Leaves changing, apple picking, pumpkin carving, and… pretzel eating? That’s right, October’s nationally recognized as the month of the pretzel.

The celebrated salty and crunchy snack is such a staple of American munchies that it deserves a whole month dedicated to it. Unfortunately, thirty-one days of plain-pretzel-eating can lead to dry mouths and bored palates.

Never fear, I’ve discovered five funky pretzel-combos to enjoy this month all based on how you’re feeling:

Ever have that day in October where the weather is nice and you’re stuck in class? It’ll drive you nuts. To compliment your nutty feelings and ease your frustration, try a simple and foolproof classic: pretzels dipped in peanut butter.

It’s breakfast on Monday, you’ve had an indulgent weekend, and you want a healthy start to your week. How about a light yogurt parfait, hold the dairy? Try vegan Silk yogurt with your own granola: crushed pretzels and dried fruit.

It’s mid-October. The weather’s getting colder and the spirits are getting lower. You just got a text from your boyfriend or girlfriend. He or she wants to take a break and focus on studying for Midterms. Let’s be honest, is there any better way to ease relationship troubles and end sorrows than chocolate? Probably not. So rip open a bag of pretzels drowned in dark chocolate, and tell yourself life is sweet.

We’ve all been there. It’s been a long and wild night and, to be frank, it’s getting WAY too late to still be as drunk as you are. All you want is to sober up and dig into an ungodly amount of carbs you probably wouldn’t let yourself eat if you were fully functioning. Treat yourself to a warm and fluffy hot pretzel. Hopefully your drunchies will be satisfied and you’ll be able to make it back home safely.

No matter what you’re feeling, it’s easy to celebrate from the 1st to the 31st. There are pretzels out there for you this month, even if your mood isn’t just “salty.”
