Galentine’s Day

By: Lee Musho

You may have started dating your new S.O. last month, but your friends have been there for you through thick and thin for the entire year, and it’s time to celebrate that. Here’s how our staff spends time with their favorite people.

Lee Musho: Dave and Buster’s

On my first Galentines Day, I went to Dave and Buster’s in Destiny. My friends and I ordered all of the fried food on the menu and played nearly every game they offer. It was a way to make memories together that took our minds off of the dreaded V-Day, and had us laughing hysterically. It got us out of the house in the middle of a Syracuse winter, and didn’t leave us slightly depressed, which watching rom-coms and eating ice cream tend to do.

Tanya Motwani: Escape Room

My friends and I usually go to a restaurant and follow that with a movie or an escape room, (like Escape The Mystery Room in Destiny).

I do a big Galantine’s Day brunch with scones, tea, and heart-shaped pancakes! Then we watch every single episode of “Parks and Rec” that includes Galentine’s day (Season 2 Episode 16, Season 4 Episode 14, and Season 6, Episode 17).

Emma Ryan: Wine Night

For Galentines, we have wine night paired with brie and raspberry jam and watch a good movie. For wine, my go-to is Yellowtail because I’m poor, but I also like Lambrusco. It is a simply divine, sparkly red, and isn’t super expensive.

I usually have a wine night-in with my girlfriends, eat some delivery pizza, and watch trashy reality TV (preferably “Rock of Love”). But this year, we’ll be downing beer and nachos while cheering on our basketball team at The Dome.

This year, my friends and I are going to the new Fifty Shades movie!

Traditionalist?

There’s no shame in wanting to hang on the couch, you poetic and noble land mermaid. So watch some movies and munch on snacks with your besties! Here’s how our staff spends the night in.

Taylor Butler: I eat Insomnia cookies and watch Netflix!

Lucy Dunn: I make chocolate covered strawberries and watch “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

Alyson Weber: I eat Ben & Jerry’s, make homemade nachos, and drink wine.

Elizabeth Satler: I watch movies like “Girls Trip.” Any rom-com would be a good bet!
