4 Cocktails To Celebrate Syracuse Making the Final Four

-Cait Cordova

Even though the men’s team has lost, we still have the women’s team to cheer for. Let’s celebrate how made it to the Final Four against all odds!

1.Vampira Cocktail:

This first drink has a little extra kick! It’ll get you going to cheer on your favorite team in the Final Four!

1 ½ oz blanco tequila

1 tsp hot saucse

1 oz Clamato

1 oz lemon juice

Grapefruit soda (or something similar)

Pinch of salt

Fill a glass with ice. Sprinkle the salt over the ice. Pour in the tequila and hot sauce, along with the lemon juice and Clamato. Fill the glass up to the top with the soda and stir. Garnish as preferred. Enjoy!

  1. Absolut Punch Bag

Need an easy beverage to carry around at the tailgate? This drink is for you. This will take slapping the bag to another level.

1 oz Absolut Vodka

2 oz Chamomile tea

1 oz Sherry

½ oz Lemon Juice

½ oz Honey

¼ oz Triple Sec

¼ oz Tonic Water

1 straw, and edible flowers if you want to get real fancy

Pour all of the ingredients in a plastic bag and stir. Stick the straw into the bag and take precaution to make sure it is securely closed. There you go, get to sippin’!

  1. Mandarin Mojito

Take this classic cocktail and give it a good ole ‘Cuse twist by adding some mandarin oranges.

2 cups Mandarin or tangerine, juice

1 Mandarin or tangerine, slices

8 oz Mint, leaves

1 Mint, leaves

1/4 cup Lime juice, fresh

1 cup Sugar cane juice

1 Sugar to decorate rims

1 1/2 cups Sparkling water or club soda

1 Ice

1 2 cups of rum

You can make the mojitos in individual glasses or in a pitcher. Make them in a pitcher and only add a bit of sparkling water. Then in each glass, place ice cubes, mint leaves and fruit slices, pour the drink into the glasses and then top it off with some sparkling water.

Gently muddle or crush the mint leaves with the sugar cane juice (or sugar or simple syrup).

Add the rum, lime juice, and mandarin juice, mix well and taste. Add sugar or rum if needed – remember than you will still add sparkling water. Add a few ice cubes and some mandarin slices. Then top off with the sparkling water and mix gently.

As mentioned above, to serve in each individual glass: put ice cube in the glass, then add some fresh mint leaves and mandarin slices, and pour the drink into the glasses. Top off with additional sparkling water or club soda if needed.

Serve immediately.

4. The Syracuse Orangeman

Finally, the obligatory ORANGE drink. Because are you really from Syracuse if you don’t party with mascot-colored beverages?

½ oz Curaco, blue

1 oz Triple Sec

1 oz Vodka

6 oz Orange Soda

Add the Curaco, Triple Sec, and vodka. Stir and then add the orange soda. LET’S GO ORANGE!
