Where And What To Eat Post-Hangover

Age-old collegiate wisdom tells us to go for the greasiest food to cure our hangovers. Leftover pizza and the remnants of whatever we ordered last night are among the most common options. Though a greasy breakfast may be what you want, the most important thing is consuming food that supplies you with the nutrients alcohol has taken away. After a hangover, an omelet is usually my go-to—the perfect balance of a greasy and hearty breakfast to combat the mix of bad decisions and liquid courage swirling in my stomach.

Here are some good places to eat—and what to order—post-hangover.

The Gem Diner

Syracuse has a ton of great breakfast options, but the delicious omelets at this diner are bound to make you rebound from your hangover. One of my favorites is the spinach omelet with feta cheese and tomatoes.

Funk ‘n Waffles

The Bootsy Brunch waffle includes a bacon-stuffed buttermilk waffle with two eggs and cheddar cheese—in other words, everything you’re craving.

727 S. Crouse Avenue

Bruegger’s Bagels

This bagel chain offers a variety of breakfast options, but your best bet is the Sriracha bagel sandwich with cheddar cheese, red peppers, and—of course—Sriracha.

731 S. Crouse Avenue

Sweet Basil Thai House

The Pho, a Vietnamese soup, can really combat the hangover headaches, and the Sriracha sauce will undoubtedly kick you into a better mood.

143 Marshall Street

Strong Hearts

This popular vegan restaurant has a variety of smoothie options that are great if you’re trying to detox—the vegan protein smoothie, with its mix of banana, cocoa powder, and peanut butter, is both restorative and indulgent.
