Five Festive Treats for St. Patrick’s Day

by Lily Biagi

Saint Patrick’s Day is a fun holiday if you’re Irish or not. So put on a “Kiss me, I’m Irish” t-shirt, decorate your space with rainbows, pots of gold, and leprechauns, and make these festive foods and drinks for a shamrockin’ good time.

Saint Paddy’s Day Muddy Buddies

The perfect sweet and salty snack! Easy to make and even easier to eat an entire bowl full. This is an especially fun treat to make because you get to customize it. Melt green candy melts and coat some of the Chex Cereal in it, then add green sprinkles, green m&m’s, and Lucky Charms marshmallows.

Guinness and Cheddar Cheese Fondue

Don’t think you can make melted cheddar cheese any better than it already is… well think again. The addition of Guinness takes this gooey fondue to a whole new level. Serve this elevated pub dip with warm pretzels or wavy potato chips – hearty and comforting for a cold March day.

Pot o’ Gold Jello Shots

How cute are these? Start with lemon or pineapple Jello and add ½ cup cold Jameson whiskey (or your alcohol of choice). Top with a dollop of Cool Whip, gold sprinkles, and a rainbow candy belt to complete this festive drink! Make sure you have a couple to get the party started.

Note: These can also be made alcohol free by substituting ½ cup cold water instead.

Celtic Garlic Knots

These garlic parmesan knots are quick and easy to make (thanks to store-bought biscuit dough) and SO delicious. Skip Dominoes this time and have fun shaping yours into a celtic knots. Once you have them shaped, slather them with butter, parmesan, and herbs. Bake for 8-10 minutes and serve them while they’re still warm. We guarantee you won’t be missing Dominoes after you taste these.

Mint Oreo Truffles

These bite-sized beauties are a mint-chocolate lover’s dream! Who needs Thin Mints and Shamrock Shakes when you can easily whip up your own delicious treats. These decadent truffles have only 3 ingredients: Mint oreos, cream cheese, and candy melts for the coating. You can find candy melts in the cake decorating section of supermarkets or the party supply section of Walmart, Target, or Michael’s Craft store. These truffles are a simple Saint Patrick’s Day dessert with endless options for decorations!

St Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, so you know it’ll be a party all weekend long. Whether you’re hosting an epic Irish celebration or attending a friend’s party, be sure to try out these food and drink ideas to make your Saint Paddy’s Day extra delicious!
