Our Favorite Food-Inspired Halloween Costumes

by Caleigh O’Toole

Spooky season is upon us, and with this time of the year comes costumes! And one classic costume category is anything food related. From wearing a yellow shirt and calling yourself a lemon to putting all of your DIY skills to the test, Halloween is the perfect time to show the world your favorite foods. Here are our favorite food-themed costumes, from easiest to make to most creative diy:

Pineapple Pizzazz

Starting off with the simple – but always fun – pineapple costume. A simple yellow dress or monochrome ensemble is the perfect foundation for this fun look. By taping a few pieces of green construction paper to a headband, the stem of your pineapple is complete, making this costume a success.

Sister Sauces

Halloween is always fun with a group, and it is so easy to make a creative sauce-themed costume that fits any group’s vibe. TacoBell sauce packets make for the perfect halloween costume. Grab a monochrome outfit of red, orange, yellow, green, or maroon and start decorating. Print out or paint each of the sauces names onto your outfit and you are ready to take the world by storm with your flamin’ hot fits.

Wine Bag Weekend

Halloween is not necessarily a one day event, so it is important to have multiple costumes ready to roll. This is a super fun costume that you can do solo or with a group. You’re going to need a clear garbage bag and a whole bunch of tissue paper. Choose your favorite wine bag flavor and find tissue paper of a similar color. Cut holes out of the garbage bag for your limbs and start stuffing it with crinkled up tissue paper. Bring a real wine bag as an accessory and drink combo (if you’re of age) and be ready to impress the whole party.

Deviled Eggs

Not only does this look give you a two-for-one,  a devil costume one night and deviled eggs the next, but it will have you stealing the show with your creativity too. You’ll need an all-red look with devil accessories. To add in the foodie touch, print out pictures of eggs and tape those right onto your outfit. Then you are all set to steal the costume contest win.

Holy Guacamole!

Claiming the top stop for our most creative food-inspired Halloween look is this amazing play on words. Everyone knows this classic saying, but bringing it to life for costume season is a great diy. With a simple green dress and halo headband you can create this fun masterpiece. Hop on your computer and print out a bunch of avocados. Tape them all over your dress, add a few pinches of red detailing to represent the tomatoes and bam, you are a holy guacamole.
