When it comes to grocery shopping as a college student, it is very important to get deals and steals on food items. From Wegman’s to Tops to Trader Joe’s, there is a surprising amount of grocery stores to choose from here in Syracuse, New York! With so many options, how does one choose which grocery store to shop at? Keep reading to find out which grocery store is the one for you!
1. Wegmans
Before I came to Syracuse, I had never heard of Wegman’s. Now I have learned to love and appreciate this grocery store because it has just about everything! From school supplies, to a self-serve candy section, to a small restaurant; you name it and Wegman’s has it. Wegman’s also has a new delivery service that can be found on their website. This service is great for anyone who does not have a car at school or is perpetually lazy. Wegman’s would definitely be my go-to grocery store due to its wide array of options and convenience.
2. Trader Joe’s
I recently discovered the Trader Joe’s in Syracuse. I have one in my hometown, but I have a newfound appreciation for it at school. Trader Joe’s has high quality food, but it is more pricey and has less variety compared to Wegman’s. Personally, I enjoy Trader Joe’s because they have a great frozen food section with many healthy options. As someone who still lives in a dorm and does not have a kitchen, I have an intense appreciation for microwaveable food. Trader Joe’s also has unique snacks and lots of organic options. My top snack suggestion for Trader Joe’s would be the giant bin of Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
3. Tops
Tops is easily the most convenient supermarket for students at Syracuse, with one located right near south campus. Tops would not be my first choice due to the lack of variety in products, but I have gone there to pick up groceries when I don’t have enough time to take a trip to Wegmans. Compared to Wegmans and Trader Joe’s, Tops definitely has the best prices.
