Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your significant other or just hanging out with friends, one thing is for sure: you need treats! There’s no better way to say ‘I love you’ than with a sweet homemade dessert. Put the basic chocolate covered strawberries aside and steer clear of the store bought heart shaped goodies. Instead, you should try out these five desserts this Valentine’s Day no matter your dessert making skills.
Everyone can agree chocolate and peanut butter is a match made in heaven, but did you know you can make chocolate peanut butter cups at home? So ditch the store bought Reese’s and check out this recipe by The Pioneer Woman. Here’s a tip: use the good, creamy peanut butter (none of that no sugar, no oil healthy peanut butter); it is a holiday after all.
- Chocolate Fondue
Who said you can’t play with your food? A fondue station is the perfect way to entertain guests and make eating dessert even more fun. Choose your favorite chocolate or mix together bitter-sweet and milk chocolate for the perfect chocolate balance. You can pretty much dip anything in chocolate and it will be delicious. We recommend using pretzel rods, strawberry, apples, marshmallows, and your favorite cookies as fondue dippers. You can even try bacon for a sweet and savory combination.
This treat really is as easy as pie to make. Simply use store bought pie dough and jelly to make a personal sized pie! Just place a dollop of strawberry jelly onto a cut out slab of pie crust and top with another slab. Sprinkle some sugar, then bake and enjoy!
- Sundaes
Probably the easiest way to celebrate this day of love is with an ice cream sundae. Buy all your favorite toppings and favorite flavors of ice cream to make a classic sundae with that someone special. It requires minimal prep, skill, and time. And don’t skimp on the sprinkles!
We know we said no chocolate strawberries, but this recipe takes it to the next level. These individual cheesecake cups topped with juicy strawberries and rich chocolate will have everyone falling in love. Even though this recipe takes a little extra work, these bite sized treats can be made up to three days ahead. Happy baking!
