I don’t remember when my mom started making this dessert, or where she found the recipe, but it has quickly morphed into one of my all-time favorite desserts. Oreo Balls are a quick and easy dessert to make, and are good for any occasion – so much so that my friends naturally expect I’ll be equipped with Oreo Balls wherever I go. So, without further ado, here is the recipe for the treat that will put the best dessert debate to rest:
Ingredients
- One pack of regular Oreos
- 8 oz of Philadelphia’s Original Cream Cheese
- 4 bars of baker’s semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- Place a pack of Oreos in a gallon Ziploc bag, and crush them with a rolling pin
- Place the crushed Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they’re crumbs, ensuring there are no large pieces
- Place the Oreo crumbs in a mixing bowl and add the block of cream cheese, mixing them together with your hands until you can no longer see the white from the cream cheese
- Roll small chunks of the mixture to create 1-inch balls, then place the balls on a tray with parchment paper
- Place the tray in the freezer for 20 minutes
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between
- Once the chocolate is melted entirely, attach the balls to a stick and dip them in the chocolate, ensuring the ball is fully covered in melted chocolate
- Repeat this process until all the Oreo balls have been covered in chocolate
- Freeze the balls for another 20 minutes
- Keep refrigerated beyond this point
